Should We Fear Change?

One change is moving out of a house and into a dorm with friends or living by yourself. His change can make people excited because they get to live with their friends. But on the other side, some people may feel scared because this is the first time ever that they are getting away from their parents and trying to live independently. Another change may be moving to a new neighborhood. Again, this may be both an exciting and fearful experience. After all, you get to make new friends but will have the feeling of not fitting in quite well in a new living environment. Another change is leaving school and entering the real society. This is mostly frightening for most of the adolescents especially in an era like this that is experiencing economic recession. Many people fear that they cannot find a proper job and cannot afford renting an apartment.

Is the Word Falling Apart?

One natural disaster that is memorable to me is the 921 earthquake that hit Taiwan in the year 1999. The earthquake struck in midnight so many people were not able to escape successfully and many houses collapsed. There were severe damages and high casualties. After this event, many people were heartbroken because families were separated. Many people lost faith in the future and became pessimistic. They began to blame on everything including God or the government for causing all these unfortunates. They live every day without any motivation. In other words, they became like zombies. However, some people began to realize the important value of family. They learned to cherish every moment they have with their family. Some people began to unite with each other to get through these saddest moments. One thing is the same for everyone: the partner of other people. If at this moment, society begin to disintegrate, many people would not what to do and would probably keep on living in despair. Society is when all people come together and work together to make the world a better place to live in.

I\Is the World Indifferent to us?

Yes, to me the universe is often indifferent to humans despite the good or bad of that person. The most obvious examples are the natural disasters of nature. Severe cases of tsunamis or typhoons destroyed houses and took away many people’s lives. The sudden changes in climate and rising temperatures have also brought many disasters to the world. I would not say the world is completely indifferent to us. If people think about it, many of these natural disasters were a result of the actions of humans. It is because we did not use the natural resources responsibly and created too much pollution. Global warming resulted from people using too much products that release green house gases that trap too much heat. It resulted from the gradual buildup of the many things we did. Of course, weather upheavals occur naturally. This does not cause too much a problem. It is the major changes in weather caused by human actions that bring many troubles.

What Can Break Down Prejudice?

Some examples of prejudice are often related with race or skin colors. Some prejudices are that Asians are good at Math and always receive good grades. African Americans are thought to be better at sports and do not receive good grades. They are often thought to do more crimes and do drugs. Chinese are sometimes thought of producing cheap things and rude by some Taiwanese. In order to break the prejudice of African Americans, I think we can start by showing some examples of famous or booming African American who achieved high academic statuses. Also, I think most of this prejudice came from misunderstanding or the lack of understanding. People can get rid of this prejudice by learning more about the background history, such as how Europeans conquered Africans. This may be why many people came up with the idea that Africans are underprivileged. If people understand this, they can understand why there is this kind of rumor. In turn, they can get rid of this prejudice. In conclusion, I think the best tactic is for the African Americans themselves to stand up and actively break the prejudice by achieving goals themselves.
