How do you Win Someone's Heart?

My first thing to do is to doing something meaningful such as buying flowers and writing cards for the person you have a crush on. The person I asked thinks this is very affective since the person you have a crush on will likely be touched and accept your love. However, I think this method is only useful when you are very familiar with the person and knows that person have some feeling for you, too in order for it to success. The second method is to directly propose to the person. The person I asked of her opinion thought that it is too risky. She thought it is better if you do something very touchy for her first. Like me, she also stated that it is only useful when this method is used on someone you have confident that she will accept you or else the person you have a crush on will likely be surprised and the situation will become awkward from that point on. The third method is to just support him or her silently behind their backs. The person I asked didn’t think that this is very useful because many people often take this contribution as granted and don’t appreciate or remember it. I fully agree with her. In conclusion, to win someone’s heart neds strategy and devotion.

Should We Fear Change?

One change is moving out of a house and into a dorm with friends or living by yourself. His change can make people excited because they get to live with their friends. But on the other side, some people may feel scared because this is the first time ever that they are getting away from their parents and trying to live independently. Another change may be moving to a new neighborhood. Again, this may be both an exciting and fearful experience. After all, you get to make new friends but will have the feeling of not fitting in quite well in a new living environment. Another change is leaving school and entering the real society. This is mostly frightening for most of the adolescents especially in an era like this that is experiencing economic recession. Many people fear that they cannot find a proper job and cannot afford renting an apartment.

Is the Word Falling Apart?

One natural disaster that is memorable to me is the 921 earthquake that hit Taiwan in the year 1999. The earthquake struck in midnight so many people were not able to escape successfully and many houses collapsed. There were severe damages and high casualties. After this event, many people were heartbroken because families were separated. Many people lost faith in the future and became pessimistic. They began to blame on everything including God or the government for causing all these unfortunates. They live every day without any motivation. In other words, they became like zombies. However, some people began to realize the important value of family. They learned to cherish every moment they have with their family. Some people began to unite with each other to get through these saddest moments. One thing is the same for everyone: the partner of other people. If at this moment, society begin to disintegrate, many people would not what to do and would probably keep on living in despair. Society is when all people come together and work together to make the world a better place to live in.

I\Is the World Indifferent to us?

Yes, to me the universe is often indifferent to humans despite the good or bad of that person. The most obvious examples are the natural disasters of nature. Severe cases of tsunamis or typhoons destroyed houses and took away many people’s lives. The sudden changes in climate and rising temperatures have also brought many disasters to the world. I would not say the world is completely indifferent to us. If people think about it, many of these natural disasters were a result of the actions of humans. It is because we did not use the natural resources responsibly and created too much pollution. Global warming resulted from people using too much products that release green house gases that trap too much heat. It resulted from the gradual buildup of the many things we did. Of course, weather upheavals occur naturally. This does not cause too much a problem. It is the major changes in weather caused by human actions that bring many troubles.

What Can Break Down Prejudice?

Some examples of prejudice are often related with race or skin colors. Some prejudices are that Asians are good at Math and always receive good grades. African Americans are thought to be better at sports and do not receive good grades. They are often thought to do more crimes and do drugs. Chinese are sometimes thought of producing cheap things and rude by some Taiwanese. In order to break the prejudice of African Americans, I think we can start by showing some examples of famous or booming African American who achieved high academic statuses. Also, I think most of this prejudice came from misunderstanding or the lack of understanding. People can get rid of this prejudice by learning more about the background history, such as how Europeans conquered Africans. This may be why many people came up with the idea that Africans are underprivileged. If people understand this, they can understand why there is this kind of rumor. In turn, they can get rid of this prejudice. In conclusion, I think the best tactic is for the African Americans themselves to stand up and actively break the prejudice by achieving goals themselves.

What is Beauty?

I think most people in today’s society see the “beautiful” as describing about physical appearances. I think it has to relate to the recent viewpoints of how people view each other. People often rely on first and the exterior appearance of others to judge what kind of people they are. For me, I think the term beautiful can be used to describe both the physical appearance and the nature of people. A person can still be beautiful even without a beautiful appearance. A person can have a beautiful nature that is kind and sincere. Beauty can have many aspects. As long as that characteristic please people and make them happy, it can be counted as beauty. Some characteristics are a kind nature, truth, or sincerity.

How Can Guilt Enslave Us?

Something I have been very guilty of is when I accidently told others a secret that I was told not to tell. At first I felt very nervous and tried to conceal the fact that I have spilled my friend’s secret. I even told the person I spilled the secret to keep the secret. Days after I spilled the secret, I could not talk with her freely or normally. I felt so guilty. I also felt very uneasy everyday every time I thought of what I have done. However, if a secret was spilled, it always has ways to spread around quickly. Soon, my friend knew that I spilled the secret and came to confront with me. I felt so guilty that I almost cried and immediately apologized to her. We made up after that. After this incident, I learned that guilt can motivate you to do things that you do not have the courage to do. It can make you feel very depressed and melancholic every day until the problem is solved.

How do you live life to the fullest?

I think one of the experiences should be to travel around the world. This gives you a broader and international view point of the world. You also get to learn more. The bad thing is that you do not get to stay in one place for too long so you would not understand the place as accurately. Another experience is writing a biography of your own. Doing this can enable you to evaluate whether you have done something valuable. If not, it can motivate you to quickly do something. However, someone else may think that writing a biography is to flamboyant or showy. Also, making friends from diverse countries is also a good experience. That way, you can learn a lot from them or visit them in different countries. However, those friends may not be as close to you. Another essential experience is joining a volunteer group whether it is a cleaning r teaching group. I think this helps contribute back to the society and people who need a lot more help than you do. Last, I would say to just believe in yourself and do your best on everything. That will help you get through life with a positive attitude instead with down emotions.

What are the Perils of Jealousy?

I think the description is very accurate. Jealousy can become overwhelming and can lead you to do destructive deeds. In the end, one who feels jealous can become so addicted to that feeling and could not get out of it. The person who feels jealous is the one who suffers the most because no one could talk a person out of being jealous. When jealousy strike a person, that person can do unbelievable, dangerous, and evil deeds. He or she may deviate from his or her normal behavior. They can try to do what ever to gain what they are jealous of. People often hurt or try to harm others they are jealous of. In a love relationship, many girls can often get jealous when the boys they like get too intimate with other girls. Girlfriends can often compare their boyfriends to others and get jealous when they think the other boyfriends are better. Jealousy can cause people to become discontented about their previous states. In result,a lot of quarrels can occur and cause the end of a relationship.

How can we Fight Injustice?

One of the social injustice is social injustice is environmental injustice. It is when old dump sites are built near low-income houses or when toxic manufacturing plants are located near poor areas. One way may be to write and to make sure the article or the special column is posted in local newspaper or international magazines. Another way is to conduct speeches that talk and advocate the importance of fighting against this injustice around the world. Last, people can use the influence of public figures to help spread the word of serving justice to all. I think writing is fairly effective  Many people have the habit of reading newspaper. In that way, those people can get to know of environmental injustice and may be persuaded by the author’s writing more easily. Giving speeches is very effective also. Speeches can be broadcasted by media and can be spread to even faraway places. Good speakers can control the mood of people and evoke some sympathy in them. Lastly, the use of public figures may not be that much effective  Specific celebrity or public figures have their particular supporting crowd. If some people hate the public figure by any chance, they may choose to not listen to what they say or not support what they advocate.

Apollo Landing Rewrite

Apollo II became the first manned space mission to successfully land on the Moon after it launched from the Kennedy Space Center on July 21, 1969! Astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, and Michael Collins were all on Apollo II. On June 20, Armstrong and Aldrin landed their small lunar  module in the Sea of Tranquility where Armstrong landed on the Moon and spoke the very famous line. " That's one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind." A total of over 600 million people were watching the event on television. Armstrong and Aldrin achieved something very honorable and great by planting an American flag in the soil, installing a plaque that bored the signature of each of the astronaut and President Nixon, and an inscription before going back to the shuttle. An inscription that read, "Here Men From Planet Earth First Set Foot Upon the Moon, July 1969 A.D. We Came in Peace For All Mankind."

Why Keep a Diary

I have kept a diary together with my friend when I was in elementary school. I think the most important reason for me to keep a diary is the remembrance of particular and important events. Other reasons may be to get to know yourself better or for others to get to know you on a deeper level, to train your writing or articulating skills, and to reveal your secrets that you do not want other people to know. It is a way to express your true thoughts and dissatisfaction.
I would rather keep a traditional diary in a book. For me, I write a journal to reveal my private thoughts and encounters to express not for the sake of sharing with other people. Also, some thoughts are too private that I will not want people to know about it. I believe if there is a need for me to gain some suggestions or feed backs, I can just share the diary with someone instead of leaving it on the internet where I cannot exactly take control of who looks at my diary. I can also choose to share or “exchange” the diary with someone so he or she can write down thoughts after reading my entry. I can learn from their thoughts from their entries, too. In conclusion, the traditional diary is easier to control and for me to keep a more private and free space.

Macbeth's Soliloquy

One of the soliloquy of Act 1 scene 1 is spoken by Lady Macbeth. In this part of the soliloquy, Lady Macbeth has already developed the thought of murdering Duncan. She has decided to persuade Duncan of this horrible deed. This soliloquy is her talk to herself about securing and strengthening the thought of doing this violent action. She wished for the evil spirits to take away all her thoughts of human conscience and kindness, to change her personality into an evil one. She wanted the darkness of night to cover up the evil deeds she was going to do so that no one who is just can stop her. This foreshadows how Duncan might really be killed during his stay at Macbeth’s castle. It also shows a little about Lady Macbeth’s feminist side of controlling her husband and her sureness of her influence on Macbeth. This soliloquy contributes to the story line by bringing about Duncan’s death. The other soliloquy is revealed by Macbeth about his opinion on death. The news of Lady Macbeth’s death plunged him a little more into misery. However, the news also made him gave up on himself. He conveyed the thought of how every person has to die on day. It is just a matter of time. Macbeth thought that life is short and line an illusion. He compared life to a candle that does not last long and a poor actor whose time on stage is short and unimportant. To Macbeth at this point, life to him is already lacking meaning. It is just like a drama that is full of conflicts and troubles but without goals to achieve. I think this soliloquy contributes to this scene’s mood of sympathy toward Macbeth and desolation of Macbeth. It also foreshadows how Macbeth’s depressions may lead him to his eventual downfall.
